Taiwan’s startup ecosystem is not confined to Taipei.
On August 28–29, Meet Greater South 2026 will bring startups, investors, corporates and technology providers to the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center for two days built around business matching rather than conventional conference networking.
The event describes itself as Southern Taiwan’s largest startup festival, with a particular focus this year on connecting companies facing real operational problems with technology suppliers and startups able to solve them. The main areas include smart manufacturing, enterprise efficiency, healthcare and senior care, net-zero and green energy, cross-border marketing, and retail and food-service technology.
For SAKIME readers, however, the most relevant part is the event’s investor and business-matching structure.
Investor matchmaking is built into the event
Startups selected as exhibitors receive access to 1:1 investor matchmaking, while eligible participants can also enter global pitching sessions and the Startup Mixer Party. The organisers position the event as a route to funding, partnerships and business development rather than simply brand exposure.
That distinction matters.
Many startup events advertise “networking” without giving founders a defined route to investors. Meet Greater South instead integrates investor matchmaking directly into its exhibitor programme, alongside corporate matching and pitch opportunities.
The event’s broader objective is also strongly commercial. Organisers say Southern Taiwan’s industrial base — including its semiconductor and manufacturing clusters — is looking for deployable solutions around AI, automation, operational efficiency and decarbonisation.
International startups are already part of the programme
Meet Greater South explicitly accepts global startups.
Its international category covers overseas-headquartered companies with non-Taiwanese founders, foreign-founded startups established in Taiwan, and Taiwanese founders operating companies headquartered abroad. Approved global startups were eligible for a free booth, investor matchmaking and global pitching opportunities.
The startup exhibitor application period has now closed. The original July 3 deadline was briefly extended in early July, so companies discovering the event now should not interpret it as an open exhibitor call.
The current opportunity is instead attendance and direct ecosystem access.
The official event site continues to advertise a free visitor pass, and its 2026 exhibitor directory already includes companies working across semiconductors, physical AI, enterprise software and other technology sectors.
Why Kaohsiung matters
Meet Greater South is particularly interesting because it provides exposure to a different part of Taiwan’s technology economy.
Kaohsiung and Southern Taiwan contain major industrial and semiconductor activity, creating potential customers and partners for startups working in manufacturing, AI, energy, logistics and enterprise technology. The event is deliberately built around connecting those established industries with newer technology companies.
For an international investor, corporate innovation team or founder already planning to be in Taiwan, that makes the event potentially more useful than a general startup conference.
It offers a concentrated look at companies seeking customers, partnerships and capital — while also providing a window into the industrial demand developing outside Taipei.
